The beginning of the University of Alabama’s upward push to some of the all-time winningest programs Within the history of college football began with a diminuative sportswriter from Cleveland, Ohio named Xen C. Scott. Within the Fall of 1919 he went south to start a seasonal job as head football coach at Alabama. All the way through his four season tenure, he laid the foundation that would develop into the school’s football program from a slightly successful regional program to some of the greatest programs Within the country. On account of his contributions to the upward thrust of Alabama Crimson Tide football, Scott will all the time be remembered as a damn good Yankee.
