Description
The UN’s Towns with out Slums Campaign, which aimed to give a boost to the lives of 100 million “slum” dwellers, has been inappropriately communicated across Africa as a project to eradicate slums and this book explains how current urban coverage encourages this interpretation which has resulted in conflicts between urban residents and native and national authorities. It argues that the best to the town, in its unique conception, has direct relevance for urban contestations in Africa lately.
