Description
Even if much has been written at the Afro-Catholic syncretic religions of Vodou, Candomble, and Santeria, the Religious Baptists–an Afro-Caribbean faith In response to Protestant Christianity–have received little attention. This work offers the primary detailed examination of the Religious Baptists or “Converted”. In response to 18 months of fieldwork at the Island of St. Vincent (where the faith arose) and among Vincentian immigrants in Brooklyn, Zane’s research makes a contribution to the literature on African-American and African Diaspora faith and the anthropology of faith more in most cases.
