Description

Who built the mysterious spiral staircase within the little chapel at Loretto Inn in Santa Fe, New Mexico? Used to be it a master craftsman or the work of excellent St. Joseph? Archbishop John B. Lamy had the chapel, patterned after the Sainte-Chapelle of Paris, built for the Sisters of Loretto and the young women of the academy. When the varsity closed after more than a century of remarkable service the web site Used to be sold. Old and new owners agreed that the chapel, and the famous staircase, should be preserved for its attractiveness and peace, now and sooner or later.
